Tricia Walton – 8th Grade

Education: I went to Valparaiso University for my Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Then to Concordia University for a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Supervision and certification in Administration.  Finally, I went to Northern IL University to work toward a Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I am All But Dissertation for that doctorate because I stopped work on that while raising my 6 beautiful children.

Teaching Experience: Before staying home, I taught at the Kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5-6th grade levels all in Lutheran schools.  While staying at home with my children, I was able to work part time from home for the Northern IL District of Lutheran Schools developing curriculum. In total, I have 8 years of teaching experience and 13 of curriculum work.

Years at St. John’s:  My years at St. John’s include attending St. John’s through 8th grade, teaching here for 5 years “before kids,” and now I am glad to be back again! I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher at St. John’s and I have the privilege of teaching 6-8th grade Social Studies, 8th grade Pre-Algebra, and Computers for PS-8th grade!

Favorite Bible Verse:  My favorite Bible verse was my confirmation verse:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3: 5-6

My God, my family, and my ministry are the whole of my life and I am so thrilled that they are all so intertwined.  In my “free time,” I love to be with my family, read (especially historical fiction), play volleyball, and go to or learn about new places.
